Project Overview
One of Australia’s most famous equestrian sporting events, the Melbourne Cup Carnival, is now one of its most sustainable as well. First Solar modules produce 39,420kWh of clean energy each year–enough to completely offset the annual electricity consumption of the racecourse’s large infield screen.
Project Benefits
The Australian initiative annually prevents approximately 30 metric tons of harmful carbon dioxide emissions from being released into the atmosphere which is the equivalent of more than 600,000 black balloons of carbon dioxide annually.
Community Commitment
The solar project is part of the Flemington Green Fields Program, a series of sustainability programs aimed at reducing the environment impact of races held at Flemington.
