Due to their proximity to the El Dorado natural gas-fired power plant, the two sites that comprise the El Dorado and Copper Mountain Solar Projects were able to take advantage of existing infrastructure and the associated interconnection and transmission facilities. The combined solar arrays, spread over 468 acres, include roughly 1 million First Solar PV modules and supply electricity to power approximately 20,000 average California homes.
