CommunityCommitment
First Solar is committed to being a good neighbor. AV Solar Ranch One will provide economic benefits to businesses in the Antelope Valley, including engineering and design firms, construction subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers. We anticipate hiring up to 300 construction workers for the project. First Solar will seek to provide employment opportunities for qualified local residents.

Antelope Valley is rich in scenic beauty and community pride. Once operating, AV Solar Ranch One will provide many years of clean, renewable energy, with minimum impact to the local environment and scenic vistas. At the same time, the project will demonstrate Antelope Valley's commitment to a sustainable energy future, serving as a catalyst for economic growth and technology innovation in the region.
Environmentally-Sensitive Site Design
The project site was used for agricultural production as early as the 1950s, but the most recent agricultural activity on the site was in 2004. The area is currently zoned for heavy agricultural use, and there is only one mature Joshua Tree on the site, which will not be disturbed by project activities. Extensive biological studies have determined that the site is not home to any threatened or endangered plant or wildlife species. First Solar will use all appropriate dust suppression measures during and after construction.
First Solar in the Community
First Solar is committed to working with the local community to develop a high-quality solar energy project in the Antelope Valley area which will bring benefits to the local economy while contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. First Solar will continue NextLight’s commitment to engaging neighbors, community groups, educational institutions, environmental groups, and business organizations to ensure that AV Solar Ranch One becomes a valued and respected business in the area.
