Local Commitment on a Global Scale
First Solar is committed to a world in which clean and affordable solar electricity plays an increasingly important role in the global energy mix, as well as to its role in the transition to a low-carbon society. Raising awareness and education are crucial to promoting renewable energies globally and to informing citizens about climate change.
First Solar has a long-standing commitment to community stewardship. We strive to make a positive difference in the communities where we live, work, and do business. Together with various organizations, First Solar has developed and supported many initiatives on the local level in communities around the globe. People have committed to renewable energy in their communities and First Solar supports this commitment by collaborating with local organizations, hosting and participating in events, supporting local schools and programs, and providing citizens with a platform for dialogue.
Alliances
First Solar has teamed up with organizations across the world to support environmental initiatives.
Fondation pour la nature et l'homme
First Solar works with this French NGO (created by Nicolas Hulot) to educate the public and other constituents on the importance of environmental protection and renewable energy policy standards.
Deutsche Umwelthilfe
First Solar and the German NGO DUH are working on a variety of activities, including the promotion of climate protection and the potential of photovoltaics (PV). One example is the “Climate Community Award” where First Solar rewards climate-friendly communities and promotes the adoption of best practices.

As one of WWF’s Clean Energy Ambassadors, First Solar promotes a vision to achieve a 100% renewable energy mix.

Everywhere First Solar builds PV power plants and manufacturing facilities, we strive to engage the local community.
Training Programs
In conjunction with the Desert Sunlight Solar Project in Riverside County, California, First Solar donated solar modules and training expertise for utility-scale training programs at the College of the Desert and Palo Verde Community College.
Nature Preservation
First Solar supported the Poppy Reserve and Mojave Desert Interpretive Association in the preservation of California’s state flower, the California Poppy, near the location of the AV Solar Ranch One Project in Antelope Valley, California.
Energy and Education
Near First Solar’s manufacturing plant in Perrysburg, Ohio, USA, First Solar donated its solar modules and solar expertise to the Toledo Zoo for a small PV installation and informational kiosk to educate visitors about solar energy and resource conservation.
