Project Overview
Developed, engineered, and constructed by First Solar, the Blythe Solar Project includes 350,000 modules manufactured with First Solar’s advanced thin film semiconductor technology. One of the first utility-scale PV projects in the United States and the largest in California, the facility serves the needs of approximately 6,000 local homes. First Solar will monitor and maintain the facility over its lifetime, and Southern California Edison is contracted to purchase its electricity output for 20 years.
Project Benefits
The Blythe Solar Project demonstrates leadership for California in the utility-scale solar market, providing the lowest-cost solar energy available and generating Renewable Energy Credits while displacing over 12,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
Community Commitment
The construction of the Blythe Solar Project created 200 jobs during the peak construction period, and serves the energy needs of approximately 6,000 local homes.
