First Solar Sets A New Record For Module Efficiency

First Solar in January set a new world record for cadmium-telluride (CdTe) photovoltaic (PV) solar module efficiency, achieving 14.4 percent total area efficiency. This record, confirmed by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), and announced at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, surpassed the prior record of 13.4 percent, which was also set by First Solar.
